About Inagua
Home to a huge national park, this southern most Bahamian out-island boasts the most complete fishery of the chain. Bonefish, tarpon, permit, snook and barracuda all reside here for the DIY fly fisherman’s taking. It’s also home to the largest flamingo breeding populations in the Western hemisphere. Sprinkle in 140 other species of birds and you have a bird-watching paradise. The Morton Salt Company calls this island home, verified by the mountains of salt visible from most places on the island. The interior is dominated by several ponds and huge Lake Windsor, offering great inland fishing opportunities.
Inagua is the southern most island in the chain. The winter cold fronts that hit the more northern Bahamian islands don’t usually affect locations this far south. While there is generally more wind in the winter months, there is still excellent fishing in protected areas to be found. This makes the fishing here is outstanding year-round.
