Flights to Christmas Island to Resume April 5, 2022

It was February 18, 2021 when I received a text from a couple fishermen waiting to board a Fiji Airways flight to Kiritimati (Christmas Island). They were in the Honolulu airport when an announcement came on informing everyone that the flight was cancelled due to Covid. It’s been over 2 years, but flights are finally set to resume on April 5, 2022.

Even thought most die-hards have found lesser alternatives to the DIY fly fishing Mecca that is Christmas Island, it’s time to book your trip! Time to take advantage of the fish that have had a couple years to fatten up and forget what a fly and tippet look like. One thing I am hearing to bear in mind, Fiji Airways is telling folks they have to be vaccinated to get on the flight in. I also haven’t heard what will be available regarding testing to get back into the States or Fiji, but am assuming they will have that covered.
